No, the outcome was not the best but the Duck effort was nothing short of tremendous. Unfortunately, in football, someone needs to come away wanting and Saturday was not the Ducks Day.
I was looking at Facey and Duck fans are yelling “OFF WITH THEIR HEADS” calling on resignations of Arroyo all the way to coach C. Also yelling at refs calls and no calls or fourth down decisions. I too question a fourth down call to run into the heart of a very stout defense when they were loading the box when everyone from the announcers to the opponents bench knew what was coming. Sure, only 6 inches but if you take Chips playbook, if they load the box…throw over the box. Why not? Back up QB. My contention of why throw, NOBODY WOULD SEE IT COMING and possibly score. You can say 20/20 hindsight but I was calling that pre-snap.
Back to the previous premise, FANS JUST GET OVER YOURSELVES. One dissapointing game does not a season make. If we run the table, we could still be in the SHIP discussion. Not likely, but it’s best to lose early than later.
I think we played admirably against a very lucky team. Outplayed them through three quarters but faltered towards the end. Let’s not worry about the end of the season because that’s a fools folly. One game at a time (football quotes) (take care of the ball) (play Oregon ball) and the season will take care of itself.
Personally, I was proud of my team. I look forward to the remainder of the season and am not looking too far ahead because Facey Duck fans are a bit nuts with the exception of our DuckPoll crew.
