Danny’s 2018 game by game predictions

Comment below thoughts or your own predictions!

Sep 1 – vs. Bowling Green ; W. C’mon man we got this

Sep 8 – vs. Portland State ; W.  another gimme

Sep 15 – vs. San Jose State ; W. Not dominating all of these first 3 games would be an embarrassment.

Sep 22 – vs. Stanford ; w. I learned Love was staying another year And almost flipped my decision. This game will be a nailbiter, but Stanford will be the class of the pac 12 this year, and the ducks have a lot of work to do. We got this BUT BARELY/

Sep 29 – @ California ; W. Herbert nearly pulled this off as a freshman, and the ducks are better now. Even though we seen to have trouble with Cal, I think we got this.

Oct 13 – vs. Washington ; L. I hate this pick but its logical. Washington is much better than us, and they won’t be phased by Autzen. Our one SURE LOSS IMO

Oct 20 – @ Washington State ; W. Cougars are entering a big rebuilding year. We should all be relieved Falk is gone.

Oct 27 – @ Arizona ; W. Really tough game. This will be an absolute shootout, but Arizona usually plays well against us and being a road game I think we can do it.

Nov 3 – vs. UCLA ; W. Can’t wait for the atmosphere at this game. Return of Kelly to Autzen. I don’t see us losing this one. Kelly was a good hire but UCLA does not have enough talent to win at Autzen.

Nov 10 – @ Utah ; W. Herbert owns the Utes however the Utes are still talented.

Nov 17 – vs. Arizona State ; W. ASU is not experienced enough to win at Autzen. Herbert will go off on their weak defense.

Nov 23 – @ Oregon State ; W. No excuses for losing this one even though it’s at Reser.

Largest stumbling blocks – Washington, Arizona, Stanford and Utah.

Record: 11-1. Not an easy schedule but not too daunting either. Could easily be anywhere from 11-1 to 7-5. I wholeheartedly believe we’re going bowling this year and a real good chance we’ll be in the PAC 12 championship.

What do you think. Dying to hear.

  1. I agree with your analysis at the end. The record could be anywhere from 11-1 to 7-5. Barring injury, I see the question marks as Stanford (Love killed us last year, even though we knew he was rolling rolling rolling); Washington (Peterson has them firing on all cylinders. Big Big game in their opener vs Auburn. Oregon will have to reach deep to pull off a win, although playing them in Autzen is worth something.) Washington State (Pullman is a hard place to play, and the fans will be CRAZY for this game. They HATE Oregon, and Leach will play no holds barred. WSU is always a challenge and a thorn in Oregon’s side); Arizona (we contained their QB last year and I expect us to do the same this year, but tough game in Arizona; and Utah (a talented team on the road. Look out!!). I see Oregon coming out of all of this in the 9-3 range.

    1. The reason I mentioned PAC championship was Washingtons losses to Auburn, Stanford and dropping one to either Utah or Arizona or Colorado or BYU. If Oregon overpreforms and Washington underperforms…who knows.

  2. First off, I Iove the look of the site! Nice work Danny! Solid game by games takes on the season. Obviously I think a lot depends on injuries, keeping Herbert healthy will go a long way in realizing the potential of this team. I don’t have any season predictions yet, but I’m excited to see what’s in store for this Oregon team reimagined by Cristobal and company.
As for the next game, unfortunately, I just don’t think my Ducks quite have the right pieces in place to overcome a deceptively strong Bowling Green team. It sucks, but I think the Ducks lose in a close one. Just kidding, FAKE NEWS! It turns out Kellyanne Conway wasn’t totally making shit up! The Bowing Green Massacre is real. It’s happening tomorrow at Autzen Stadium. Ducks win BIG and that is most certainly not an “alternative fact.” Sorry if I offended anybody with the Crypt Keeper rrrrr…Conway jab. Just kidding again, not sorry at all. At any rate, I hope everyone is having a great day and GO DUCKS!!!

    1. I was sucked into your narrative with wide eyes and a WTF. Then you pulled the plug thank god. Nicely done. You had me going there. Thanks for the belly laugh. Go Ducks

  3. Haha, that’s funny, Gabe! I had to read you what you wrote twice when you said you didn’t think your Ducks quite have the right pieces in place to overcome a deceptively strong Bowling Green team. Haha, you had me going for a sec. Should have known you’re a joker. 😀

  4. You had me going at first, also Gabe. I should have remembered what a joker you are, Lol. FAKE NEWS indeed! Guess we’ll have to watch you from here on out. 😉

    1. Sorry Deb, if you don’t log in officially first I have to play baby sitter and approve the post. It’s a failsafe measure so we are not invaded by alien posters that try to take over Duck Poll for evil purposes. You know, like communicating to the other side of the planet the countdown to the human race over Duck Poll. I guess I’ve seen Independence Day one too many times.

  5. After watching week 3s game against SJS and factoring in Bryce Love’s ability to run all over anybody and our inability to run all over anybody at a lower level, my Stanford/Oregon pick has flip-flopped unless, for some reason, Love is not activated. Our receivers are dropping too many passes put in their hands and penalties are cropping into our game at the worse possible time. Sure, we have stuff to fix but until we catch the ball, plus prove we can run the ball consistently against more than PSU and Bowling Green…we got a lotta work to do. Plus prove we can stop the run in the Pac-12, which I think we will do better than most. If we get by Stanford, we are going to be good this year. I have seen enough to believe Stanford’s not all that. their QB is hot and cold but with Love, they are “WE’RE RUNNING…NOW STOP US” and if you can’t, you are screwed. Case in point USC earlier this year. Stanford does not score much, but they don’t need to with a stiff defense. Stanford has had our number for two years but in 2015 we upset them and they were #7. Hummm, history repeating itself. If you believe in that kinda kizmet thing, the score in 2015 was 38-36, on the farm. You may wanna save that for next year.
