Slow turnover laden start but the Ducks survive game 2

No. 11 Oregon rallies in the second half for 43-29 win over Wazzu after one of the shakiest first halfs of football I’ve seen in a long time. Well thought out plays went for naught as Tyler Shoughs passes were thrown behind his receivers over and over. Pile on to that, three Oregon turnovers, it was a miracle the Ducks were behind less than a score going into halftime. Chaulk that up to a stout Oregon Duck Defense that tightened up in the red zone. The defense was on the field WAY too long in the first half. If they looked tired, they probably were, having to defend the field three additional times off those turnovers.

In the second half it was all Tyler Shough breaking free for yardage on foot, CJ Verdell hammering out over 100 yards on the ground, Devon Williams DJ Johnson Verone McKinley III catching the ball and also Troy Dye. So in all, a team effort.

The good news, however, the Ducks outscored the Cougars 36-10 after trailing 19-7 in the final seconds of the first half, so alls well and such.

Saying the Ducks got out of the Palouse with a gift is understating the second half adjustments made, but suffice it to say, these 2020 Ducks are not what you’d call, fast starters.

Next up for our Ducks is Saturdays game against UCLA. It’s time for another dose of Chip Kelly.
